The September 11 attacks have changed the world’s security environment. The tremendous developments in the wake of this event have resulted in two major wars. The sustained struggle against terror has yielded significant results, but not a foreseeable end to terrorist networks. Although operating in a less conducive environment after the intervention in Afghanistan, Al-Qaeda has quickly adapted to new circumstances, mobilizing affiliated organizations to carry out attacks against U.S. troops in Iraq and against its allies, highlighting the new agenda and tactics employed by the Network.
