Turkey´s interest to develop relations with Africa is highly interesting and a relatively new development in Turkish foreign policy. Although it has started in 1998, its implementation in a coherent and sophisticated manner took place since the AKP came in power in 2002. Currently, both Turkey and African countries benefits from this relation in not only in economic and political terms, but also Africa gains aid, investment and humanitarian assistance. In Turkey, a “new” Africa conception is under way that sees Africa as a full partner in political and economic issues. Developing and intensifying ties with African countries is likely to continue in future as it is supported widely by civil society in Turkey.
