The author of this paper points out the pragmatic nature of the Turkish public and state when it comes to domestic and regional priorities. The idea that Turkey is in search of an identity or that historical hostilities govern regional relations are some of the assumptions which Mango believes lead to a misunderstanding of Turkey.
